Update On The New Homestead

IMG_4082

It’s May and we are SOOOOO excited to be  putting in our foundation on Monday!

It took us a little while to get things rolling as we had some difficulty finding a contractor that would work with us and help us build the house not just want to build it all and charge us thru the nose for everything. We are keeping our costs way down by doing a lot of the work ourselves and acting as our own general when we hire other sub contractors to do parts of the project for us.

Also the permitting process took weeks here and we weren’t planning on that when we did our time line.

The house should go up pretty quickly and we hope to be shelled in by Fathers Day.

Pretty happy with how the building site turned out once we got it leveled.

Then the inside work will begin.

Here is a before and after video of the property showing you the building site before and after the excavation work was done to clear out brush, trees and leveling the the area for our homesite.

Watch for lots more videos and pictures as we progress.

You can do it. I personally built my home in 18 months. I did sub out the mechanical, drywall, and foundation. I layer almost 3000 Sq ft of hardwood flooring, plumbed, wired, roofed, raised walls and the finish work. My only regret is I built a two story and wish now I would have built a one level home with a basement. Good luck and can’t wait to see more posts.

Thanks Sonya! We are keeping it pretty simple with no stairs or basement. There will be lots of posts coming in the next few weeks as we do the foundation. You should come visit. We could use the help 🙂 You sound experienced!
